For upscale homeowners in Southwest Florida, the kitchen is more than just a place to cook; it’s the heart of the home, a hub for entertaining, dining, a work-zone, and a reflection of your lifestyle. If you’re considering building a new custom home or undertaking a kitchen remodel in Naples or the surrounding area, maximizing its functionality and flow is paramount. This is where the innovative 5-Zone Kitchen concept proves invaluable. Gulfstream Homes, a premiere builder in the region, understands this need and can bring the innovative 5-Zone Kitchen concept to life. This design offers a highly adaptable and efficient solution, perfectly suited to the evolving needs of modern families and open-plan living.

According to “The 17 statistics for Gourmands to know in 2024”, from Comfy Living … 36% of Americans cook at home daily. That means that a little over a third of the population cooks at least one meal at home every single day. Cooking at home can be messy, requiring preparation and clean up. If you aren’t careful, your workspace can easily look like it’s been run through by a tornado, especially if it’s not organized and optimized to make cooking flow much smoother.

An organized kitchen should be a dynamic space that’s easy to navigate and that brings you joy.

By optimizing your kitchen into different zones, can make life a little simpler and you’ll be able to cut down the time you spend in the kitchen.

What is a 5-zone kitchen?

The 5-Zone Kitchen is a modern design approach that optimizes kitchen efficiency by dividing the space into five distinct activity areas:

  1. Consumables Zone: This is your food storage area, including the refrigerator, freezer, and pantry. A recent study, published in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, revealed the average US family wastes about 31.9% of their food. That’s nearly a third. Food is often wasted because it’s hard to find or hard to see. Basically, it’s food that you won’t reach for as often. After all, you may not even know that it’s there. Your consumables zone will house all of your foods, spices, oils, and other consumables. The consumables zone should encompass your fridge and your pantry. It should also include the spices you keep next to your stove.

It’s best practice to keep all of your consumables grouped together.

  1. Non-Consumables Zone: This zone is dedicated to storing dishes, glassware, cutlery, and other dining essentials.  This zone should be near your dishwasher for easy unloading. The non-consumable zone is one that you will use frequently, so it needs to be well organized.

  1. Preparation Zone: The heart of meal prep, this zone features ample counter space, a prep sink, cutting boards, and mixing bowls. The preparation zone is one of the more important zones, as you’ll likely be spending most of your time in this area. Studies suggest that a well-organized kitchen can save homeowners an average of 55 minutes per day in meal preparation and cleanup time.

  1. Cooking Zone: This is where the magic happens, with the oven, stovetop, microwave, and range hood, along with essential cooking utensils. Your kitchen should be a dynamic space that’s easy to navigate and that brings you joy. You should know where everything is. And it should only take you a few seconds to find it. This amount of organization requires specific kitchen planning.

  1. Cleaning Zone: This zone houses the sink, dishwasher, trash and recycling bins, and cleaning supplies. The cleaning zone will likely be your smallest zone, but it’s one of the most important. It should be located near your sink. Most people choose to place their cleaning zone underneath their sink. Cleaning utensils and cleaning agents should be kept here so that everything is close by. You can even choose to put your items in a caddy or carrier so you can easily grab the essentials when you need them.

How Does A 5-Zone Kitchen Help Me?

Implementing a 5-Zone design brings significant advantages to both new construction and remodeling projects. By strategically organizing the kitchen into distinct activity areas, this concept dramatically enhances workflow, minimizing unnecessary steps and creating a smooth, intuitive experience.

Beyond efficiency, the 5-Zone approach actively combats clutter by providing dedicated storage solutions within each zone, ensuring countertops remain clear and the entire kitchen stays organized. Moreover, its adaptable nature allows for optimal space utilization, whether you have a sprawling open-concept layout or a more compact area. For those embracing the Southwest Florida lifestyle, the 5-Zone kitchen excels in facilitating entertaining, promoting easy movement and interaction among guests.

Finally, it seamlessly supports indoor/outdoor living by allowing for a thoughtful connection between the Cooking and Preparation zones and your outdoor grilling space, creating a fluid transition for alfresco dining.

How Do I Know If A 5-Zone Kitchen Is Right For Me?

To determine if the 5-Zone concept aligns with your needs, ask yourself these questions:

  • How do you typically use your kitchen? Consider your daily routines, from quick breakfasts to elaborate dinners, to understand which zones are most critical for your lifestyle.
  • How many people usually cook or prepare food at the same time? This will help determine the necessary size and layout of your Preparation and Cooking zones to avoid congestion.
  • Do you frequently entertain guests? If so, think about how the layout can facilitate serving, mingling, and easy access to the Consumables and Non-Consumables zones.
  • What are your biggest frustrations with your current kitchen layout? Identifying your current kitchen’s shortcomings will clearly show you which specific elements of the 5-Zone design have the potential to solve your biggest problems and create a more functional area.

Should One Consider A Sixth Zone?

Recognizing how a 5-Zone Kitchen improves workflow, organization, and functionality in modern homes, a key question for those building or significantly remodeling arises: Could incorporating a sixth distinct zone offer even greater efficiency and usability to the kitchen space?

Absolutely, says the experts. If you’re big on hosting, and your kitchen is large enough, entertainment could be the sixth ‘zone’. In open plan kitchens, it can be argued that there is now a sixth zone in the kitchen: the entertaining zone, where family and friends congregate, close to the cook, but safely out of harm’s way.’

At Gulfstream Homes, we understand the importance of a well-designed kitchen. At Gulfstream Homes we strive to make the homebuilding process seamless for our clients. We know there are many decisions and choices our clients need to make, and our goal is to share our knowledge and expertise with you.

One of the most frequent questions we get asked is about what kind of smart home technology we recommend for a new home. While the architectural details and design elements are crucial, incorporating the latest technology can elevate your living experience to a whole new level. What was once a futuristic fantasy, smart home technology is a reality that offers convenience, security and increases energy efficiency. Below are some of the most innovative features to consider integrating into your custom home.

Smart Home Hub & Automation

A smart home hub is a central location that allows you to connect and control various smart devices – lighting, thermostats, security systems – from a single app. This is the brain of your home. It acts as the translator between devices and ties everything together.  It’s crucial to the smooth management of smart home technologies. It’s important you thoroughly research this component of your smart home to ensure it will work effectively with the other technologies you choose.

Seamless Security

Feeling safe and having peace of mind in your home is crucial. Security systems can include smart locks, cameras, motion detectors and even leak sensors that notify you of potential problems. All of these options are accessible remotely from your smartphone to give you peace of mind when you’re away.

Smart Lighting

Imagine setting the lights at the perfect level for when the sun sets so you don’t arrive home to a dark house. Or having the right lighting for movie night or during a cocktail party. Smart home systems allow you to control and adjust the brightness of your home’s lights as well as creating pre-programmed lighting scenes.

Climate Control

All Floridians know, making sure your air conditioning is running, especially when you’re away, is crucial to preventing mold growth in your home. Homeowners can monitor and control the temperature remotely, ensuring a perfectly cooled home while potentially saving on energy bills with smart thermostats.

Futuristic Kitchens

From smart appliances that can be preheated from an app, voice activated recipe guidance and dishwashers that alert you when the wash cycle is finished, next generation kitchens have arrived. Utilizing technology in your kitchen makes it more efficient and enjoyable. Smart refrigerators even have cameras that will show the contents inside so if you’re at the store you can quickly check on what you need.

The items above are just the beginning of the smart home revolution as technology continues to rapidly evolve. By incorporating technological advancements, you will be able to monitor almost every function of your home while making sure it is comfortable, secure, and efficient for the future. Gulfstream Homes is here to help you plan and integrate these technologies into your new home. Contact us today to get started on the path to your perfect home.

Everyone loves a good home improvement project. It lets you customize your living space to fit your needs and wants. No matter the age of your home, it can benefit from renovations and upgrades. As you prepare to renovate your residence with Gulfstream Homes, consider the best home renovations to do in 2024.

Upsizing Your Home: Adding New Suites for More Living Space

You’ve probably heard of an in-law suite. Many homeowners decide to add extra living space for their parents for different reasons. As a parent facing a national childcare shortage, you may also need a suite for your nanny or au pair. No matter the reason, upsizing your current home is one of the best home renovations to do in 2024.

More homeowners across the country are expanding their current homes instead of buying new ones. Whether you have a brand-new build or a beloved older home, you can curate the perfect living suites for your additional family members.

Bonus Benefit: Adding Value to Your Home

When it comes to home equity, more square footage is always better, and so is having fully livable spaces that aren’t connected to existing bedrooms and living rooms. If you choose to resell your home, the additional space will increase its value.

Kitchen and Bathroom Updates: Out With the Old, and In With the New

More homeowners are updating their kitchens and bathrooms as new trends emerge. As open-concept kitchens and modern bathroom features become more prevalent, some of the upgrades homeowners are taking on include:

  • Incorporating multipurpose storage
  • Replacing bathtubs, showers, and accessories
  • Installing kitchen islands
  • Integrating smart home technology
  • Expanding the size or updating the floor plan

Bathroom and kitchen upgrades can go a long way toward modernizing your home and adding an air of luxury. These are often significant structural changes, but the results will be well worth the time and costs.

Upgrading Outdoor Living Spaces: Pools, Lanais, and More

Florida is The Sunshine State for a good reason. And thanks to the beautiful weather, many Floridians enjoy high-end outdoor living spaces. When you want to enjoy the wonderful weather with family and friends, these luxurious elements can serve you well.

While an inground pool is a classic choice for those wanting to upgrade their homes, a lanai is another popular choice that offers plenty of shade while still being open — making it ideal for gatherings, outdoor meals, and other occasions. The lanai-and-pool combo makes you an honorary Floridian, and the value of your luxurious Gulfstream home only goes up after this type of upgrade.

Customizing Your Gulfstream Home: Best Home Renovations to Do in 2024

As a custom home builder, Gulfstream Homes is able to accommodate many different requests from clients who wish to include unique spaces in their new home. One of the most requested spaces is a dedicated space for a home gym. No one wants unsightly and bulky workout equipment sitting in their beautiful new living space.

Fortunately many of our home plans already include, or can be modified to include, an area for a home gym. Floor plans like our popular Woodstock model already include what we call a flex space. When choosing to design a space for a home gym here are the following things to consider.

Flooring

It makes sense to start from the ground up. When you start looking at flooring options for a home gym you want to make sure it’s durable. Workout equipment is heavy and if weights get dropped you want a floor that can resist chipping. The most common types of flooring for home gyms include:

  • Rubber floor mats
  • Cork
  • Hardwood
  • Vinyl flooring

Each type of flooring has its benefits and drawbacks. When you choose your flooring type, consider if the floors will take a beating with moisture, weight or movement. Our professional design team members can go through the various options with you to make sure you make the right choice based on your workout profile.

Lighting

Lighting can often be a last thought when designing your home gym but can make a huge difference in appearance and functionality. Strategically placing lighting in the right workout zoned areas will help you feel more relaxed as well as be able to see better.

Equipment

Take into consideration the types of equipment you have for your gym and also the equipment you plan to purchase in the future. You want to make sure your home gym isn’t overcrowded with so many different types of machines that it’s hard to move around. Planning out specific spaces for cardio equipment, weights and stretching or yoga will help make your gym feel organized and flow well.

Accessorize with Extras

There are things you can add to your space that will make it feel more organized and help keep it clean. Consider adding a weight rack that can expand as you add more weights to your grouping. Other things to think about include a mini refrigerator for keeping cold waters handy, a hamper for dirty towels and wipes to keep equipment clean. Some homeowners enjoy having a television set mounted on the wall to play their workouts on or to watch television while they work out.

The options are endless when you choose to include a home gym in your new home. Home gyms provide you the opportunity to work out at your own pace, on your own time and in the privacy of your own home.

The team at Gulfstream Homes has lots of experience helping our clients build out a home gym space in their new home. When you work with us we will help guide you through your options so when you move in, your new gym will be ready to be filled with everything you need and love to use in your workouts. Contact us today to start the journey of building your custom home at 239-254-1664.

Many homeowners love where they live and do not want to uproot their lives with a move, but they eventually outgrow their space, or the space needs updating. Choosing to renovate your home with Gulfstream Homes guarantees that instead of leaving behind memories created in your family home, you can create more memories while increasing the value of your family home and create a comfortable and functional space to enjoy for many years to come.

Renovating a home has many benefits beyond a fresh look and functionality. Specific areas of a home, when renovated, add greater value and comfort for those that live there. Gulfstream Homes top renovation suggestions include creating a new kitchen space, updating the master bath and redesigning your outdoor space.

Kitchen

Kitchens are the hub of a home. In older homes, kitchens were often closed off to the main living areas leaving the chef with little room to work or even have a conversation with a guest. In today’s design trends, the open concept floorplan is much preferred by buyers and homeowners alike. The team at Gulfstream Homes can take an existing kitchen and turn it into a chefs’ dream kitchen by opening the space up to the main living area, adding upgraded energy efficient appliances and designing enough spaces for aesthetically pleasing storage including incorporating a pantry if the home doesn’t already have one. Renovating a kitchen can completely change the look and feel of a home as well as significantly increase the home’s value.

Primary Bath

A primary bathroom should be more than a place to get ready. With today’s modern technology and design elements, a primary bathroom can become an oasis. Gulfstream Homes can help you create a spa-like sanctuary where you can relax and unwind in a functional space designed with options such as a soaker tub, steam shower and dual vanities. Adding custom vanity lighting in the primary bath helps to elevate the tranquil spa like feel. While it is not the focus of your unique home, creating a custom primary bath will add value and appeal to your home.

Outdoor Space

Renovating your outdoor space is a unique way to add value to your home in Southwest Florida. Many residents move here specifically so they can enjoy the sunshine year round. Adding elements to your outdoors such as an outdoor kitchen, pool or extended seating area are just a few ways to enhance the living space of your home. When considering renovating your outdoor space with Gulfstream homes, don’t forget that elements such as landscaping and water features can go a long way in the overall design.

Undertaking a major renovation of your home can be daunting. At Gulfstream Homes our experts are well versed in creating the custom design plans of your dreams while helping you walk through the renovation process every step of the way. Contact us today to start transforming your space into something special!

If you’re like most homeowners, your kitchen is the heart of your home. It may not be where everyone enters, but it tends to be where everyone gathers.

Additionally, it’s where you spend many hours every week preparing meals for you and your family, socializing, and enjoying quality time with the ones you love. At Gulfstream Homes, kitchen remodels are one of our most popular requests. Of course, cabinetry is an important consideration during any kitchen remodel.

5 Kitchen Cabinet Trends to Consider During Your Next Kitchen Remodel

Perhaps you’re looking to start from scratch and design custom cabinetry from square one. Or maybe you simply want to refresh and update what you already have. Whatever kind of remodel you’re considering, these current kitchen cabinet trends will help give your kitchen a fresher and more updated feel.

1. Creating Contrast with Dark-Colored Cabinets

You’ve heard the saying “opposites attract.” Although this usually refers to people, it applies just as well to kitchen design. If your kitchen features lots of light colors and open space, consider adding some contrast with dark-colored cabinets. Dark wood grain patterns or solid colors can create a more relaxed and comfortable feel.

2. Adding Visual Interest by Mixing Cabinet Colors

Kitchen cabinets are traditionally a single color or pattern, but many homeowners are bucking tradition and adding visual interest by mixing cabinet colors. One popular method involves choosing different colors for each area of your kitchen.

For example, you may choose to install white wall cabinets and light green base cabinets. Alternatively, you can add visual interest with two-toned cabinets.

3. Making Cabinets a Focal Point with Bold Colors

Many kitchens lack a strong focal point that commands attention as soon as you enter them. There are plenty of ways to create a focal point for your kitchen, but one of the easiest is to make the cabinets pop. Choose a bold — not necessarily bright — color to make your cabinets the star of the show.

4. Embracing Natural Finishes

If you already have a very busy kitchen or you prioritize a more peaceful feel or natural look, natural finishes are the way to go. Wood grain finishes provide a simple yet classy and cozy feel that many homeowners crave.

Light-colored wood offers a brighter and more modern feel. Alternatively, if you’re seeking a rustic charm or simply a warmer space, you might go with a nice darker wood.

5. Adding a Touch of Elegance with Metal Accents

For a more sophisticated and elevated feel, swap out your regular cabinet hardware for metal finishes, such as:

  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Rose gold
  • Brass
  • Bronze
  • Brushed nickel
  • Copper

Whether you’re trying for a sleek and minimalist feel, industrial chic, or even a more bohemian look, these metal accents stand out in any kitchen.

Design the Kitchen of Your Dreams with Gulfstream Homes

It doesn’t matter if you’re designing a custom home or planning for an upcoming kitchen remodel: at Gulfstream Homes, we will make it easy to get exactly what you want.

Let our experts help you design a kitchen that will be the gathering place you’ve always wanted and take the stress out of the remodeling process. Reach out to us today to discuss your project and learn more about what we can do for you.

Transforming a space into something special with your creative influence is one of the joys of being a homeowner. Especially in Southwest Florida, where quality of life reigns supreme, and our homes are expected to provide a home base for the many aspects of our ever-changing needs. However, numerous decisions and options can make landing on a renovation concept hard. Luckily, Gulfstream Homes is here to help and let you know that 2023 is full of these exciting trends in home renovations that fit nicely with luxurious living.

1. Enhanced Home Offices

The home office is officially a staple, and renovating these spaces to accommodate a more work-from-home-friendly lifestyle is rising. Enhancing your home office is about improving functionality, but it’s also a call to cultivate a more conducive environment to do your best work. Whether you work from home full time, part time, or simply need a serene, productive space to conduct your personal business, a well-designed home office is essential.

Some home office renovations are about transforming an existing space into an office. For instance, many will want to turn an unused spare bedroom into a workspace. A new home office can bring more flexibility and comfort to your workday.

2. Luxurious Outdoor Living Spaces

Outdoor living spaces are always on trend, especially in Southwest Florida. But because their value keeps increasing, adding a luxurious twist is one of the hot new trends. Think big and consider adding special entertaining areas like fire pits, a putting green, bocce court, and more that pair nicely with outdoor kitchens and the pool space of your dreams.

Fun and functionality are high on the list for an outdoor living space. However, some homeowners are more interested in beautiful landscaping and gardening. Spending time renovating both is the best way to add a luxurious feel.

3. Commercial Grade Kitchen Makeovers

Kitchens are another space that will keep seeing a lot of love from homeowners, and many families are opting to upgrade their kitchen to full-on restaurant quality. If you long to channel your inner chef and work magic in your own kitchen, here are a few restaurant grade home kitchen features to consider:

  • Stainless steel cabinetry
  • Upgraded workspace lighting
  • Professional grade range
  • Large workstation-style sink

In other words, whatever your dream kitchen looks like, it’s all on the metaphorical table.

4. Texture Top-to-Bottom

Adding or increasing texture throughout your home is one of the more notable trends in home renovations. Many modern designs are going out of their way to incorporate more visual interest through textured fabrics or walls. There’s a lot of opportunity to play here, and you can add a pop of texture to any area of your home.

5. Technology Throughout the Home

It’s no surprise that technology is on the list of trends in home renovations. Homeowners everywhere are starting to deck out their homes with tech to make their lives easier. And the need for home offices over the past few years has only made these upgrades more enticing.

Smart home functionality makes it easy for comfortable living. Some technology can also help better secure your home, which every homeowner is after. And newer tech makes it easier than ever to keep your space looking sleek.

Hiring a home renovation team with experience is the best way to include these trends in your home. Gulfstream Homes can help your vision come to life! Contact our team today to learn more and schedule your consultation.

A new year brings new opportunities, whether you’re seeking to finally reach a longtime goal or you’re looking for ways to make your surroundings better. The new year is also a time where the latest home design trends emerge, allowing homeowners to see what’s new in the design world, as well as what is making an exit. Designers and builders work together to cultivate some of the best designs in the industry, and here in Southwest Florida, our homes are filled with open, airy spaces, indoor/outdoor living, and bright colors throughout, so what’s in store for 2022? When it comes to home design 101, here’s what in and out for 2022.

In: Divided Spaces

Since the beginning of the pandemic, families have had to cohabitate much more than usual, which means that what once served as the kitchen island has now become a study hub, and that spare bedroom? A home gym. Although we’re not completely saying goodbye to open floorplans, many homeowners are choosing to divide up their rooms for more functionality by adding:

  • Removable dividers & screens
  • Contrasting flooring to differentiate between spaces
  • Curtains
  • Barn doors

If you’re building a new home, it’s important to discuss the layout with your builder as soon as possible, so that you’re able to get the right flow for your family’s needs.

In: Wallpaper

Whether it’s covering an entire room or simply giving the space a pop of excitement, wallpaper is back and it’s better than ever. Many designers are choosing to accent certain spaces with wallpaper to add depth and appeal to the area. Popular wallpaper designs include abstract patterns, art deco and demask designs.

Out: Open Shelving

Open shelving dashed onto the scene a few years ago, made popular by TV shows, like Fixer Upper and Flip or Flop; however, practicality is lacking. Not only do open shelves give off a cluttered look in the kitchen, it can be difficult to properly store your items, which is why this trend is slowly being phased out of the home.

In: Green Hues

Shades of green are expected to have a major moment in 2022. Not only do various hues of green add pops of color to the home, green is also calming and reminiscent of nature. In addition to green hues, floral designs are also increasing in popularity.

Home Trends for 2022

Whether you’re looking to redesign your home from the inside out or start from scratch, paying attention to the current design trends is always a good idea. A rule of thumb is to work with your builder to establish the general design of the home, then follow the current trends for the details. For instance, if you know that you’ve always wanted an open floorplan and you’re not concerned about creating divided spaces in the home, then an open space may work perfectly for you. Then, you can decorate this space with more trendy elements that can be easily swapped if needed. No matter what, the biggest takeaway is to design the home that works best for you.

If you’ve read any interior design blogs, popped on Pinterest for some design inspo or visited any home improvement stores, you may have realized just how many flooring design options you have, but what about your ceilings? Surely there must be more options than just plan white. When it comes to design, the ceiling tends to take a backseat to everything else, but why? It takes up just as much room as the floor, and we think that it should matter just as much! You may be surprised to find that there are more ideas than you originally thought for designing your ceiling to complement the style of your home, and we’ve picked out some of our favorites.

Here are some stunning ceiling designs you’re going to love.

Wood Beams

In the age of modern farmhouse style, the beamed ceiling is making its presence known in many Southwest Florida homes. Contemporary, rustic and giving off a coastal feel, wood beams create that Hamptons home look that’s highly desired, no matter where you live. For an even more beachy feel, go with a crisp white paint to lighten and brighten up the space.

Colorful Coffered Ceilings

Coffered ceilings are a spectacular way to add texture and depth to a room; however, this particular trend takes the coffered ceiling design a little bit further. Instead of traditional neutral tones for the ceiling, colorful, vibrant hues are taking charge. Think bright navy walls with a navy coffered ceiling to match, or opt to make a statement with the ceiling by painting the walls of the room in neutral tones and the ceiling a bright color to add some interest to the room.

Walnut Paneling

If you’re looking to add a natural, tropical touch to your home, walnut paneling will get you there. The rich walnut tones give the space an earthy feel, and combined with simple furniture, your space will feel like a tropical getaway in no time.

Geometric Tiles

Geometric shapes are really making their appearance in many modern homes, and the ceiling may just be the perfect spot to incorporate this trend. Neutral tones or vibrant hues can don this space, so finding the look for this area is based on preference, and a tetris-style arrangement makes this design more interesting.

Other Ceiling Design Trends

When it comes to your ceiling, you’ve got loads of options to make this area as dialed in as the rest of your home, so get creative! Other unique ideas include:

Whether you’re looking for sophisticated luxury or tropical vibes, these ceiling designs can help you pull this space together perfectly. So, don’t forget about your ceiling and be sure to have fun with this element of your home. After all, you’ve got a big area to cover, so why not make it interesting? Find the look you want for your home and add in some exquisite ceiling detailing to tie it all together.

As we wind down 2018, we are getting excited to experience the new trends in home renovation and design in the New Year. There have been plenty of changes in recent years as homes have gotten a more sleek and streamlined appearance, and we can expect that home trends will stay along those lines, evolving slightly as more homeowners seek to express their individuality and style. It’s an exciting time in the industry with the introduction of many new design ideas and products. Here’s what to expect when it comes to home renovation trends for 2019.

Suspended Lighting

Otherwise known as “pendant” lighting, suspended lighting is planned to make its way into more homes in 2019. These unique design elements are slowly replacing recessed lighting, due to their stylish appearance and variety of design options. These pieces are perfect to add a little something extra to spaces, such as foyers and kitchens, making them the center of attention in these areas of the home. Now, not only will your lighting be functional, it will be stylish as well.

Shiny Accents

Gold and copper are taking center-stage in 2019 and prove to be ideal for areas, such as:

  • Backsplashes

  • Countertops

  • Wall accents

  • Shower enclosures

These accent pieces can also be used on a smaller scale, such as with faucets and cabinet handles, making them versatile and beautiful additions to your home’s design. Gold and copper create a vintage and sophisticated feel in the space, which is why many homeowners are seeking to incorporate these colors into various places in the home.

Kitchen Upgrades

Perhaps the most popular space in the home to upgrade, the kitchen is where we’re seeing some major design changes. Tearing out old cabinetry and replacing with open cabinets is one of the home renovation trends we plan on seeing more of in 2019. Open cabinets provide not only a functional space, but they also serve as design elements in the room to showcase all of your dishware.

Another big change to expect in the kitchen is the replacement of appliances. Matte is making a grand entrance into many homes and stainless steel is preparing to say farewell. Elegant matte finishes not only look seek, they show less dirt and smudges than their stainless steel counterparts.

Vibrant Colors

This home renovation trend might seem minor, compared to ripping out cabinetry and recreating backspashes and shower enclosures, but the addition of bright, vibrant colors to the home is something to expect in the New Year. Simple gray and white designs are being enhanced with pops of bright throughout. Accent walls and beams in these bright colors are being incorporated into the home, and warm hues and creamy tones are expected to dominate in 2019.

Home Renovation Trends

Home renovation centers around design. No, we may not be saying good-bye to open-concept floorplans and minimalist style just yet, but these trends are paving the way for the bigger trends of the future. From kitchen remodels to slight wall color changes, home renovation in 2019 is taking a fun turn, and we’re excited to see what else gets unveiled in the world of home design and renovation.
